Mercury Privacy Policy

What Mercury is

Mercury is an app for watching media from a private Jellyfin media server. It shows and plays what is on that server; accounts are created on request and approved by the server operator.

What stays on your device

Your access token, a randomly generated device identifier and your preferences (such as streaming quality) are stored on your device — in the app’s private storage, or in your browser’s local storage on the web. Signing out removes the access token from that device.

What is sent, and to whom

When you sign in, your username and password are sent to the Jellyfin server to authenticate you; after that the app uses an access token. As you watch, what you play and how far you got are sent to that server so it can offer Continue Watching and keep your account current. Signing up, deleting your account, title ratings and title requests go through the Mercury service that runs on the same server. That server is run by the app’s operator.

Requesting and deleting an account

If you request an account, the username and password you choose are sent to the Mercury sign-up service to create it. If you delete your account (Settings → Delete account), your account identifier and current access token are sent to that service so the account and its data can be permanently removed from the server. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

What Mercury does not do

Mercury contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking software. It does not track you across other apps or websites, does not build a profile of you, and does not sell or share your information with anyone.

Your choices

You can sign out to remove your credentials from a device, and delete your account entirely from Settings. The server operator can also manage or remove accounts on their side.

Third-party services

Artwork, titles and descriptions for things you can request, and some artwork elsewhere, come from The Movie Database (TMDB) and are loaded directly from TMDB’s image servers (image.tmdb.org). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Mercury sends no account information to TMDB.

Children

Mercury is a general-audience media app and is not directed at children.

Contact

Mercury is run by the person who operates its server. To ask about this policy, your data, or account deletion, use the contact on the support page, https://mercury.lunahome22.duckdns.org/support — it reaches the operator directly. You can also delete your account yourself at any time from Settings in the app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will appear here and the date above will change.
